Welcome – January – February 2024

Let’s bring on 2024!

Now that we can look at 2023 in the rear-view mirror, let’s look forward to what’s in store in 2024. Some things simply won’t change much; skilled and willing labor will continue to be in tight supply.

Still others, such as parts and equipment availability, have greatly improved and with settling interest rates. Manufacturers, dealers and rental centers have a new level of confidence on which to make equipment decisions.

As you make your way to the myriad of trade shows this winter, first think about the gaps you may have in your rental fleet. Those gaps may have been caused by equipment shortages or shifts in your customer base’s demand for equipment. It also might be a good idea to take a look at your main competitors’ web sites and equipment lots to see what they’re stocking – or don’t have in stock. It could give you some insight into market opportunities.

Customers will increasingly consider renting tools and equipment over purchasing them to save CAPEX and increase flexibility. As tool and equipment manufacturers leverage technology to produce more efficient and productive models, renters will likely take more of a try-before-buy approach to next-generation models. This is especially true with Li-ion powered models gaining traction. From a rental standpoint, well-engineered Li-ion tools and equipment require much less maintenance, so rental turnaround time is fast. They can also be used in indoor and outdoor applications, increasing their flexibility to do more jobs and result in higher ROI.

I’m excited about what 2024 has in store for us. Bring it on!
