Atlas Copco Opens Service Centers To Support Rental Stores

Atlas Copco has opened 8 service centers within 200 miles of 90% of the nation's rental stores, the company says, focusing on handling major equipment repair or refurbishing needs so rental centers can focus on the business of renting and free-up service time for more immediate needs.

Atlas Copco's 8 facilities are in regions with high concentrations of rental companies and significant Atlas Copco equipment use, the company says. The service centers are in Seattle; Corpus Christi, Texas; Covington, Georgia; Cleveland; Apex, North Carolina; Santa Ana, California; plus two in Houston. When necessary, trucks based at those centers can service equipment in the field. The company plans to open additional centers in Chicago, south-central Florida and in the northeast U.S.

The service centers can often refurbish equipment, such as compressors, generators, hydraulic attachments and road equipment, to extend their life and reduce total cost of ownership. For example, when a piece of equipment is in the refurbishment “sweet spot” – between four and six years old – it will have depreciated to 20% of its original value. A refurbishment can bring that equipment’s value back to 80 % of its original price. Atlas Copco backs the refurbished equipment with three- to five-year warranties that are comparable to what the company offers on new equipment.

Atlas Copco service centers perform major repairs on equipment such as compressors, generators, hydraulic attachments and road equipment. This allows rental companies to free up their own technicians’ time so they can provide critical, responsive support for their key customer segments.
