Rental and Construction Equipment Auction Results Softening

Auction results for June 2015 softened for a third consecutive month, according to the Rouse Rental Report. June auction sales of the equipment Rouse tracks were 9.2% lower than the organization's May Forced Liquidation Values (FLV). Year-to-date, though, the company called the auction results "balanced" at 2.9% below Rouse FLV.

Rouse tracked sales of 5,106 units at 39 auctions across North America to compile the results. They track auction reults of a range of equipment, including compressors, generators AWPs, forklifts and skid steers. AWPs represented one-third of the equipment they tracked in June.

The July 2015 Rouse Rental Report also noted that the Rouse Value Index for used euqipment prices decreased 0.8% from May values, primarily because of auction results. Also reflecting some softness in the first half of this year, the Rouse Value Index is still 7.1% higher than its prior peak, which occurred in April 2007.

The report also points out that its Benchmark Service data showed achieved rental rates increased 0.1% in April.
