Bridge to Sustainable Infrastructure Act

In an Op/Ed piece posted on The Hill,  Reps. Jim Renacci (R-Ohio) and Reid Ribble (R-Wis.), explain that they're trying to "motivate Congress" to take action and provide 10 years of funding for the Highway Trust Fund. With temporary funding continuing to wind down, and plenty of construction jobs and projects at stake, the duo is hoping to trigger something substantive, rather than adding to the 33 temporary patches used over the past several years.

You can find their editorial here. They emphasize that their bill threatens a gas tax increase, but only as an "enforcement trigger to motivate Congress to finally do its job," and find 10 years of funding. "Our legislation does not set a particular mechanism to reach 10 years of debt-free funding, but rather forces Congress to consider all viable options and take action," they wrote.
