Genie Marketing Safety Kit Available

In support of OSHA’s National Fall Prevention Stand-Down, May 4-15, Terex Aerial Work Platforms developed a Genie marketing safety kit to raise safety awareness in the aerial access industry. This free kit for the North American market contains one safety poster (10 Tips for Operating Aerials), Genie safety accessories brochures, hardhat stickers and two Genie Lift Pro online training cards with access codes for free online operator training.

“Driving safety awareness is a primary goal of the Genie team. Not only is safety at the core of our culture, we also want to elevate our customer’s safety awareness about the proper use of aerial equipment on the jobsite,” said Karen Stash, Senior Director of Global Marketing and Product Management, Terex AWP. “The safety kit we have put together helps to emphasize a few of the ways that aerials and telehandlers can be operated in a more mindful and safe manner.”

The kit includes two Lift Pro training “cards”; one for aerials and one for telehandlers. The card contains a code for access to the Genie Lift Pro online training program. The program consists of an online-based training course applicable to most aerials, as well as quizzes and a final exam. Upon passing the exam, a certificate of completion is presented as proof of training. Then, the online training must be followed by a hands-on familiarization from a qualified person and employer authorized to complete the training process to become a qualified operator.

“The Genie Lift Pro training gives end users the ability to train at their own pace and on their own schedule,” said Stash. “This program has been very popular with our customers since its launch in 2013, and it contributes to both safety and productivity on the job site.”

According to OSHA, the purpose of the National Fall Prevention Stand-Down campaign is to raise awareness of preventing fall hazards in construction. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction workers, accounting for 279 of the 806 construction fatalities recorded in 2012. “Those deaths were preventable,” says OSHA. Fall prevention safety standards were among the top 10 most frequently cited OSHA standards, during fiscal year 2014.

The free kits are available to the first 200 requests in North America. Please email AWP.Marketing@terex.com with your name, email, and mailing address to get yours today.
