Rouse Rental Report Highlights

While auction results were down and achieved rental rates slipped slightly, the Rouse Value index for used equipment prices continued trending higher, according to the March 2015 Rouse Rental Report.


Across the 14 equipment categories Rouse tracks, only articulating and telescopic boom AWPs are showing lower prices now than they were six months ago. Rollers and excavators are showing some of the stronger increases in prices over that same period. Overall, the February Rouse Value Index for used equipment prices increased to 46.4, up 0.5% from January values. This is 7.2% higher than the prior peak period of 43.3 in April 2007, and 56.5% higher than prior trough period of 29.7 in June 2009. 

Rouse recorded the February auction data on 6,067 pieces of equipment sold at 20 separate auctions across North America, reporting that the auction sales averaged 2.4% lower than January numbers. 

Winter's impact on rentals showed during December, with achieved rental rates as measured by the Rouse Rate Index decreasing slightly -  0.3% - on average. This data comes from the rental companies participating in the Rouse Analytics Rental Metrics Benchmark Service, Other than wheel loaders, with utilization flat to November, utilization rates were down across all categories.
