Atlas Copco Rammer Wins Design Award

iF International Forum Design GmbH, Hannover, Germany, has awarded the Atlas Copco LT6005 rammer series with the 2015 International iF Product Design Award. The new rammers were designed for compaction work in confined areas.

“Thorough research and a tight cooperation between research and development and our industrial design team has been success factors in the development of the new LT Rammers,” says Fredrik Hägglund, manager technical development light compaction equipment at Atlas Copco. “With a strong user focus, we managed to increase the balance of the machine, making it extremely easy to handle.”

The new Atlas Copco LT Rammers are the result of research and customer input, and feature a slimmer designs, including plates as narrow as 6 inches on the LT5005 model, for easier handling and better visibility. Operators can lean half as much to the side to maintain full visibility of the rammer’s foot. The user grip area is increased by 300 percent for improved control. Greater safety, reduced weight, high compaction efficiency and ergonomics are other user-friendly features that the jury found appealing.

“Easy service is a high priority for our customers. With the new design we have managed to meet those high expectations. And even though receiving the iF Product Design Award was an honor, the real joy lays in the knowledge that we can offer our customers a great product,” concludes Hägglund.
