Used Equipment Prices Decrease

Used equipment prices slipped 0.8% from November values, according to the December Rouse Value Index. Primarily driven by weaker recoveries at auction, the Index shows prices at 44.2, holding about 2 percent higher than the April 2007 peak and 48.8 percent higher than the June 2009 trough.

December auction results, though, show a stabilizing trend across core rental categories, according to Rouse Analytics. While reporting that auction sales of rental and construction equipment averaged 5.2% lower than Rouse November Forced Liquidation Values, equipment such as small- and mid-sized earth moving machines, telehandlers and aerial equipment averaged 1.2 percent higher than November values.

The company's Rental metrics Benchmark service showed rates increased 0.2 percent during October, but were flat compared to October 2014.
