JLG Selling Used Equipment Online
JLG launched a "browsing-to-buying" website to sell used construction equipment. Initially supporting sales in the U.S. and Canada, the site will feature a variety of brands and machine types, along with JLG factory-reconditioned machines and JLG-certified pre-owned machines. 

STIHL Inc. President to Retire
STIHL announced that Fred Whyte, president of the company for 23 years, will retire at the end of 2015.  Under Whyte’s tenure, the company experienced record growth and achieved the status as the number one selling brand of gasoline-powered handheld outdoor power equipment in America.

Casale Rent-All, SmartEquip Enter Agreement
Casale Rent-All has entered into an agreement to implement SmartEquip’s on-line parts support network. Servicing the Capital Region of New York, Casale Rent-All will use SmartEquip's Enterprise application to access parts and service information from the manufacturers they represent.

Bridge to Sustainable Infrastructure Act 
In an Op/Ed piece posted on The Hill,  Reps. Jim Renacci (R-Ohio) and Reid Ribble (R-Wis.), explain that they're trying to "motivate Congress" to take action and provide 10 years of funding for the Highway Trust Fund. With temporary funding continuing to wind down, and plenty of construction jobs and projects at stake, the duo is hoping to trigger something substantive, rather than adding to the 33 temporary patches used over the past several years.

Sunbelt Rentals Posts 25 Percent Revenue Growth
With its fiscal year ending April 30, Sunbelt Rentals showed revenue growth of 25.3%, growing from $2.19 billion to $2.74 billion, the company reported. Rental-only revenue and the company's same-store revenue data also showed significant increases.

Equipment Finance Execs Report Higher Volume; Confidence Eases
The new business volume for financing or leasing equipment is up 1 percent in May 2015 compared to last year, though down 13 percent from April's numbers, according to the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association. Year to date, cumulative new business volume increased 10 percent compared to 2014. 

Equipment Dealer and Former Governor Pushes for Highway Bill Action
Former three-term Colorado governor Roy Romer,  owner of construction and farm equipment dealerships, urged congressional leaders to lay out a clear timetable for reauthorizing the federal highway program. Speaking on behalf Associated Equipment Distributors last week, Romer said it was irrational for Congress to delay investing in the roads and bridges that hold the nation and its economy together.

Early Summer Online Auctions From IronPlanet
IronPlanet will be holding auctions across its marketplaces over three days starting Wednesday, June 24, 2015, and featuring more than 3,000 items. The auctions will offer a wide range of qualty equipment, ranging from mining equipment to military Humvees to construction equipment and trucks. Mining equipment features packages from Oxbow and Carna Contracting (by order of FTI Consulting), which includes five Cat 777G Off-Road End Dump Trucks.

Hyundai Adds Corey Rogers as Marketing Manager
Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas, Inc., announced that Corey Rogers has rejoined the company as Marketing Manager. In his new role, Rogers leads all brand and product marketing and communications for Hyundai’s construction equipment and forklift product lines. He is based at the company’s North American headquarters in Norcross.

Permits Up, Starts "Readjust"
While builder confidence is increasing based on future sales, and permits increased 11.8% over April, May's housing starts dropped 11.1%. The drop was broad based, falling 5.4% in single-family to an annual rate of 680,000 and multifamily falling 20.2% to 356,000, reported David Crowe, NAHB Chief Economist.

Home Builders Liked April's Starts, Permit Data
Home builder confidence, measured by the NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index, made a five point jump in June. Now at 59, the index is tied for the highest level since last September.

Non-residential Construction Jumps 30%
CMD announced that May’s $30.5 billion of construction starts, excluding residential work, jumped 30.3% versus April. The y month-to-month gain was much higher than CMD’s usual April-to-May change, due to seasonality, of +8.0%, said Alex Carrick, the company's chief economist.

ProCon JCB joins the JCB North American dealer network, providing an extensive line of high-quality equipment and personalized, dedicated service to the New Mexico and western Texas regions. Establishment in 2011, ProCon provides construction equipment, tools, supplies, and services.

Pettibone Adds to Dealer Network
Pettibone/Traverse Lift, LLC has added Leavitt Machinery to its dealer network for all material handling product lines. Leavitt will carry Pettibone equipment at its locations in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia in Canada, and Washington in the U.S.

Great Northern Equipment Purchases JRCO
Great Northern Equipment Distributing Inc. (GNE) completed its asset purchase of JRCO, Inc. on June 1, 2015. GNE will continue to manufacture the line in the United States and will market the products under the JRCO brand. 

April Construction Spending Shows Suprising Increase
Housing, non-residential construction and government spending drove April's construction spending numbers to the highest level since November 2008, according to U.S. Census Bureau and Department of Commerce Data. The 2.2 percent increase was a significant jump over the 0.7% projected by economists polled by MarketWatch. 

AED Pushes For Responsible Highway Policy
On June 3, Don Shilling, president of General Equipment and Supplies of Fargo, North Dakota and chairman of Associated Equipment Distributors (AED), called for bold, decisive action to restore certainty to the federal highway program. In testimony before the House of Representatives Small Business Committee, Shilling drew on academic research, industry insight and his own three decades of experience in the construction markets of North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.

JLG Acquires Power Towers
JLG has acquired Power Towers Ltd., a low-level access equipment manufacturer based in Leicester, UK. Power Towers currently offers seven lift models, both self-propelled and push around, that are rated for indoor and, in some cases, outdoor use. 

Highway Bill Patched Through July
Highway funding received another temporary patch on May 29 when President Obama signed a two-month extension of into law. The Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2015 extends infrastructure funding through the end of July, reported The Hill. 

United Adds Specialty Branches
United Rentals is expanding its specialty branch network, adding eight locations in the U.S. and two in Canada.
