Accudyne Industries Names Charles Treadway CEO 
Accudyne Industries, parent company of Sullair, announced that Charles L.Treadway has been named chief executive officer, succeeding Elmer Doty. Mr. Treadway, who most recently served as president and chief executive officer of Thomas & Betts Corporation,will move into the role on March 1 and be based in Dallas, Texas. Accudyne is a portfolio company of BC Partners and The Carlyle Group.

IronPlanet Adds Fifth Day to Florida Cat Auction Services
IronPlanet has added a fifth day to its annual Kissimmee, Florida auction, expanding its Florida event schedule to start on Monday, February 8, to accommodate additional sellers who have consigned more than 2,000 pieces of equipment to the sale.

Point of Rental Users Meeting, Training
Point of Rental Software will hold its annual users meeting on Sunday, February 21, and an in-depth training seminar on Thursday, February 25, 2016, in Atlanta. The company's events lead and follow the days that The Rental Show exhibits are open.

Housing Starts, Permits Dip in December
Privately-owned housing starts took a 2.5% dip in December compared to revised November numbers. Building permits also slipped, coming in 3.9% below revised November numbers. However, both measurements are ahead of December 2014 numbers, with starts up 10.8% compared to year-ago numbers, and permits up 14.4% compared to 2014.

Bobcat of St. Louis Adds Dynapac Line
Bobcat of St. Louis has expanded its equipment line with Dynapac soil and asphalt rollers. This gives customers access to a broader range of Atlas Copco equipment in the dealer’s six midwest locations.

Wehrman Announces Retirement from ARA
Christine Wehrman, CEO and executive vice president of the American Rental Association (ARA), Moline, Ill., has announced her retirement from ARA to the ARA board of directors after 15 years of service to the organization. Wehrman will continue in the position until her successor is named later in the year.

Builder Confidence Steady in January
Builder confidence in the market for newly-built single-family homes held steady at 60 in January, the same as December's downwardly-revised number, on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index. The NAHB referred to the level as "firm" while another article characterized the index as "stalled."

The Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) released its list of Top 10 Equipment Acquisition Trends for 2016. Compiled through industry research, industry participants’ expertise and ELFA member input, the trends are issued to help businesses and other organizations as they execute their equipment acquisition strategies during the coming year. 

JCB North America Names Tim Witter VP- Manufacturing
JCB North America has appointed Tim Witter as its Vice President of Manufacturing. In his new position, Witter is responsible for JCB’s North American Manufacturing Center, which builds the company’s skid steer and compact track loaders, the 3CX backhoe loader and the HMEE (High Mobility Engineer Excavator).

Sullair, Acme Lift Company Form Rental Alliance
Sullair and Acme Lift Co. have formed an alliance, with Acme Lift now offering Sullair 700-1600 cfm portable air compressors for re-rent. Acme Lift rents hi-reach booms and telehandlers exclusively to rental companies throughout the United States and Canada. The alliance with Sullair will, for the first time, expand Acme Lift’s offerings beyond self-propelled aerial work platforms and telehandlers.

Curry Supply Adds Regional Sales Manager
Curry Supply Company has hired Rick Romney as its west coast regional sales manager. In a new position for the company, Romney will based out of Sacramento, California, and is responsible for developing customer relationships and driving sales in thirteen western states.

45,000 Construction Workers Added in December
With December's increase of 45,000 construction workers, 2016 ended with 263,000 more workers on construction firm payrolls, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). Reflecting a positive construction outlook, notes the AGC's chief economist Ken Simonson, the trend for the past few months is expected to continue through 2016.

December Uptick for Dodge Momentum Index 
Reversing direction from November's decline, the Dodge Momentum Index, rose 4.1% in December. The Index is a monthly measure of initial reports for nonresidential construction projects in planning. According to a news release from Dodge Data & Analytics, the uptick was evenly spread between a 4.7% increase for instiutional projects and 3.6% for commercial construction projects. 

JCB Milestone: 100,000th Compact Excavator
JCB celebrated the production of its 100,000th compact excavator with the promise of more innovative machines to come. The building of this 100,000th machine comes as JCB continues to grow its market share in this popular North American equipment category.

Ritchie Bros. Sets Record With 2015 Auction Sales
Ritchie Bros. announced that it posted a record $4.25 billion in equipment and truck sales at its auctions in 2015. In a recent blog post, the company said it had more than 47,000 consignors and more than half a million bidders at 345 live unreserved auctions and on its online auction marketplace last year.

Construction Industry Trends to Watch
Analysts predict 2016 will be a strong year for the construction industry, notes Emily Peiffer in the January 4 edition of Construction Dive. Talking with experts from various industry sectors, she says, they have high hopes that 2016 will bring strong demand and booming business.

Used Equipment Prices Continue Decline
Used equipment prices slipped downward for the seventh consecutive month, according to the Rouse Rental Report. The November Rouse Value Index for used equipment prices decreased to 44.5, down 1.2% from October values.

ARA Foundation Donates to American Red Cross For Disaster Relief
Winter Storm Goliath caused numerous tornadoes and historic flooding along major rivers, impacting more than seven states throughout the South and Midwest during the past week. To help those in the equipment rental industry, their families and communities that have been severely impacted by these devastating disasters, the ARA Foundation took the extraordinary step on Dec. 30 of donating $10,000 to the American Red Cross for first-responder assistance.

Doosan Portable Power Adds Tyler Equipment to Dealer Roster
Doosan Portable Power has named Tyler Equipment Corporation as an authorized dealer for Doosan Portable Power air compressors, generators, light towers and light compaction equipment. The company will distribute Doosan Portable Power products to customers throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island from their branch in Berlin, Connecticut.

Construction Spending Slips in November
In what the Associated General Contractors of America termed "divergent trends," total construction spending slipped In November compared to a month earlier, yet maintaing a strong rate of year-over-year growth. Highlighting the trend, sales of new single-family homes climbed 4.3% to a seasonally-adjusted rate of 490,000 units.
