Atlas Copco Appoints New Management Team 
for Road Construction Equipment
Atlas Copco Construction Equipment recently appointed five managers to lead its expanding road construction division. Brian Bieller is vice president and road construction equipment business line manager, Steve Cole works as the distribution business development manager, Tim Hoffman serves as the heavy compaction equipment product manager, Jonathan Oney is paving and milling equipment product manager and Imelda Moon is the equipment parts product manager.

JCB Adds Cisco Equipment Sales as Dealer
Cisco Equipment Sales, LLC, headquartered in Odessa, Texas, will be opening a new division, Cisco JCB, at its San Angelo, Texas location. Founded in 1978 in Odessa, the company has expanded over the years to now include four locations in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico.

Honda's 40-Million-Products Milestone
Honda Power Equipment announced that it has shipped 40 million power products to domestic dealers and distributors since it began sales of outdoor power equipment in the United States in 1973.

JLG Marks Production of its 100,000th Telehandler 
JLG will mark the production of its 100,000th telehandler with a charity auction event and other celebrations for customers and employees. The company will produce two commemorative telehandlers – a G10-55A and a 4017RS. Each will sport a custom color scheme comprised of 100,000 tiny JLG logos.

Cummins Teardown Shows Tier 4 Engine 
as Durable as Tier 3
To assess durability and life-to-overhaul, Cummins tore down and inspected a Tier 4 engine, comparing it with a Tier 3 version. The disassembly and in-depth examination of a QSL9 Tier 4 engine at close to 10,000 operating hours revealed major components, fuel system, turbocharger and the block to be in near-perfect condition after three years of operation in a heavy lift-and-carry application, the company reported.

Toro Adds Titan Machinery, Border Equipment as Dealers
The Toro Company added Georgia-based Border Equipment and North Dakota-based Titan Machinery to its network of underground equipment dealers. Both will carry Toro's line of directional drills, compact utility loaders, trenchers and other equipment. 

Durante Rentals, New York Takeuchi at Equipment Show
Durante Rentals and New York Takeuchi, a division of Durante Rentals, will be showcasing Takeuchi earth-moving machines at the 27th NYC Parks Vehicle and Equipment Show, held May 12th, from 9am to 2pm, in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, by the iconic Unisphere. Durante Rentals will be displaying Takeuchi mini excavators, skid steer and track loaders around the circumference of the Unisphere.

SmartEquip, Point-of-Rental Partnership
A partnership between SmartEquip and Point-of-Rental Software allows Point-of-Rental users to receive real-time, accurate parts and service support via SmartEquip, which supports more than 150 brands. Because of this partnership, the software company expects its users to see reduced operating costs and increased utilization.

CASE Introduces New D Series Excavators
Jim Hasler, vice president, North America for CASE Construction Equipment, kicked off a press event on Monday saying the company had focused on “practical and intuitive innovation” in designing its new D series excavators. Touting boom speed, smooth pilot controls and enhanced operator comfort, he said the new excavators will deliver “higher productivity for lower owning and operating costs.” 

AED Chair Urges Congress For Multiyear Highway Bill
When it comes to infrastructure, Washington, D.C., is failing the American people, said AED Chairman Don Shilling at a Capitol Hill press conference in mid-April. Shilling is president of General Equipment & Supplies, a heavy construction equipment dealership based in Fargo, N.D.

Airtow Trailers Opens Ohio Manufacturing Facility
Airtow Trailers announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The plant, which is Airtow's second manufacturing site, is part of the company's plans to drive the continued growth of its trailer business and expand further into central and eastern United States.

Builder Confidence Rises; Home Starts Below Expectations
Builder confidence rose four points in April to a level of 56 on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI). Housing starts, however, were below expectations, creeping up only about 2%.

Q2 Economic Outlook Forecast 5% Growth in Equipment, Software
Investment in equipment and software is expected to grow 5 percent in 2015, according to the Q2 update to the 2015 Equipment Leasing & Finance U.S. Economic Outlook released by the Equipment Leasing & Finance Foundation.

JCB Expand's Dealer Network
JCB has added Hlavinka Equipment Company as a dealer. The Texas-based company will sell both new and used JCB construction and agricultural equipment.

BlueLine Rentals Makes Another Aquisition
BlueLine Rental acquired Area Equipment LLC, a rental company in Cheasapeake, VA that serves customers in the industrial and non-residential construction markets. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 

Stewart & Stevenson Adds Atlas Copco to Fleet
Atlas Copco announced that the Atlantic division of Stewart & Stevenson added Atlas Copco construction equipment to its fleet. The division will carry a variety of Atlas Copco products, from light towers and generators, to pumps, pneumatic tools and compressors.

Need For Construction Workers Continues Growing
The number of open, unfilled construction sector positions increased noticeably in February, writes Robert Dietz in the NAHB's Eye on Housing. Based on the association's analysis of Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, open construction jobs for February increased to 166,000 from January's upwardly revised count of 137,000.

Rouse Rental Report Highlights
While auction results were down and achieved rental rates slipped slightly, the Rouse Value index for used equipment prices continued trending higher, according to the March 2015 Rouse Rental Report.

Atlas Copco Rammer Wins Design Award
iF International Forum Design GmbH, Hannover, Germany, has awarded the Atlas Copco LT6005 rammer series with the 2015 International iF Product Design Award. The new rammers were designed for compaction work in confined areas. 

Generac Power Systems Earns Company of the Year Award
Generac Power Systems has been honored with the 2014 Natural Gas Generator Company of the Year Award from Frost & Sullivan for its contribution to the North American natural gas generator set industry.
